Reopening Guidelines & Resources
Effective Date of Guidelines and Restrictions
The documents and language included on this page are based on Mayor Lumumba's amended Stay Safe Jackson Executive Order that went into effect on June 4, 2020 and the second amended Stay Safe Jackson Executive Order that went in to effect on July 2, 2020. Items added or changed by the July 2nd amendments are noted with highlighter within the documents.
UPDATE: As of July 2, 2020, any individual who is over the age of two and able to medically tolerate a face covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a face covering when in a public place per the second amended Stay Safe Jackson Executive Order. Individuals found in violation will be served with a citation carrying a fine not to exceed $300.00.
Furthermore, all commercial entities, businesses, and facilities providing goods and/or services to the public must require all parties (ie. employees, patrons, customers, visitors etc.) to wear a face covering. Such establishments must post the face covering requirement stated in the Executive Order in a conspicuous location sufficient to provide notice to employees and visitors.
Businesses found in violation of this order will be immediately shutdown for a 24-hour period and must sign an Attestation of Compliance with the City of Jackson.
Five Core Actions
This phased plan presents a pathway for reopening that relies on the Five Core Actions we must all consistently take to reduce the spread of COVID-19. These core actions reduce individual and community risk. We will only be able to safely maintain our reopening efforts if all of us commit to maintaining these Five Core Actions.
The Five Core Actions are:
- Maintain Social Distancing
- Enhance Cleaning
- Cover Your Face
- Wash Your Hands
- Stay Home
